Creative Authors is 11 Years Old Today!

At CA Towers we are in the birthday spirit today. We shall be quaffing champers and tucking into cake to celebrate another year in business. I asked some of our illustration clients to kindly come up with an illustration to mark this milestone. You can see these charming illustrations below. These were all unprompted and I had no idea what each artist would come up with. I think they are all fantastic and they show the diverse range of illustrators that CA represents.

Thanks to Ged Adamson for this super cute illustration! I am cracking up with laughter over Rosie in a party hat! Ged has also drawn me in my fave skinny black jeans here. Chuckles.

Ged Adamson is a writer and illustrator. His first two books, Elsie Clarke And The Vampire Hairdresser and Meet The McKaws, are both published by Sky Pony Press. His third book Douglas, You Need Glasses! was published in May 2016 by Schwartz and Wade (Random House). In 2017 I Want To Grow with Boyds Mill Press, Shark Dog with HarperCollins and Mommy, Baby and Me (as the illustrator) for Peter Pauper Press. In 2018 he saw the release of Ava and the Rainbow (who stayed), Shark Dog and the School Trip Rescue! and Douglas, You’re a Genius! In 2019, he sees Fox Found a Box published. He lives in London. You can read more about Ged here:

Thanks to the lovely Bethany Straker for this gorgeous illustration depicting me and Rosie the Pug. Beth has nailed my ‘look’ here, which is totally fabulous!

Bethany Straker is an illustrator and author of picture books and magazines. Her work often leans towards the humorous, and has been described as “somewhere between the stylings of a Steve Fiorilla and a Mike Judge series” (filmmonthly.com). She enjoys the little visual details that others may not notice, loves drawing the grotesque and champions the underdog. Here we have some delightful birthday illustrations by the lovely Colleen Harrington. I love the way Colleen knows how much I love my Bella Freud sweaters/jumpers and has drawn one with the year of Creative Authors’ incorporation. How cute is that picture of Rosie too?!

Colleen Harrington grew up in Wisconsin and now lives in a suburb of Portland, Oregon with her husband, two children, and miniature schnauzer Ginny. She has had a lifelong interest in fashion, art, languages, and literature. She holds Undergraduate degrees in Classics and Art History from the University of Wisconsin and a Master’s Degree in Classics from the University of Washington. Her illustration work has been published in UPPERCASE Magazine and on the Print & Pattern blog.

Thanks to wonderful Guojing for this super cute birthday illustration! I shall never forget meeting Guojing for the first time in Beijing in 2016 and how we sailed a duck shaped boat across a lake and got to know one another. Good times, GJ!

Guojing (Jing Guo) is an illustrator and concept artist. Previously she worked in the game and animation industry. She is now a professional illustrator. Her wordless picture book, a New York Times Best Illustrated book and a Publishers Weekly Best Top 10 Children’s Books of 2015, ‘The Only Child’, is published by Schwartz and Wade (Random House, Dec, 2015). The story is based on her own experiences as a child. Guojing is also planning her next picture book. She also likes to paint in oils in her spare time. She loves to share her ideas and feelings through her art work. You can read more about her here: www.creativeauthors.co.uk/authors/guojing/
