Michael Sheridan’s screenwriting credits include the first Veronica Guerin film, When the Sky Falls (starring Joan Allen and funded by the Irish Film Board and Sky), and Where No Birds Sing (funded by the Irish Film Board). Michael has also written and directed a documentary on Neil Jordan for RTE and WNET/thirteen in the U.S.
He worked as the Sunday Independent’s film correspondent for ten years and has interviewed most of the top Hollywood stars and had extensive contacts in the film industry. Outside of film, Michael is the most successful non-fiction author in Ireland with combined sales of his books totalling one million copies. His books include: Death in December, Murder at Shandy Hall, Frozen Blood, and Letter to Veronica. Michael was co-author and ghost writer of Don’t Ever Tell, the story of a Magdalen Laundry survivor, which spent 22 weeks in the U.K. Top Ten bestsellers list and was published in over thirty countries.
As a theatre director, he won an Edinburgh Fringe Festival First Award for his stage adaptation of The Life of Lenny Bruce. He worked with Jim Sheridan in the Project Theatre, where his production of the Marat-Sade (starring Gabriel Byrne) was a critical and commercial success, a rave review in the New Yorker describing it as ‘equalling if not surpassing the seminal production by Peter Brook at the Royal Shakespeare Company.’
His final book in a historical murder trilogy, Murder at Ireland’s Eye, was published by Poolbeg.
