Born in London in 1975, Tristan Donovan is a non-fiction author and freelance journalist/editor who planned to become an ecologist before getting distracted by journalism.
His first two books are Replay: The History of Video Games (2010, Yellow Ant) and Fizz: How Soda Shook Up the World (2013, Chicago Review Press). That playing too many video games while drinking too much soda featured heavily in his childhood is just coincidence.
Feral Cities: Adventures with Animals in the Urban Jungle (2015, Chicago Review Press), finally put his ecology degree to use.
Tristan’s board games book – It’s All A Game published by Thomas Dunne in the US has been translated into many languages.
He lives in East Sussex, in the UK, with two ham-obsessed dachshunds.
“Isabel opened the doors that led to my work being published. Throughout, she has offered honest opinions and patient coaching – all without ever losing the courtesy, gentility and decency that makes her a pleasure to know. I owe her deeply!”
